The new Chrono II is not a compromise. It has the same dial detail with a new classic black dial with white sub-dials‚ the reverse of the white dial and black sub-dial version. Both are based on examples of 60's Sheffield Chrono dial designs.
The mecha-quartz movements are used to drive the chronograph. The timekeeping function is controlled by a quartz movement whereas the stopwatch features of the chronograph are managed by a mechanical component and a sweeping seconds hand unlike the tick of a quartz seconds hand. These functions are sustained by a shared power source in a single battery. The result is the reliability of a quartz movement and the intricacy of mechanical components in its chronograph function.
